The courtyard of the Contessa apartment in Venice was once the courtyard of the family palazzo. You can appreciate the quiet and verdant oasis behind the high pink walls. The family had its own private well, so they didn't have to go to the nearby campo for their water.

The original, arched trifora windows illuminate the living room of this apartment that was once the family library. There are three sofas for everyone to relax and discuss their day in magical Venice.

The dining room adjoins the living room and is under the sleeping gallery. It is furnished with antique sideboards.

A family can be very comfortable in this apartment with beds for five. 

What child wouldn't love her own bed up high in the gallery?

The kitchen has just been updated in bright yellows. It is a full, functioning kitchen with everything you need to turn fresh food from the Rialto market into a lovely and comfortable meal. Oven, gas stovetop, dishwasher, microwave.

Whether you use the breakfast bar for casual dining, your breakfast coffee overlooking the palazzo across the way, or for preparation, this is an excellent small kitchen.

The bathroom has a shower/tub as well as the washing machine.

The entry view of the courtyard with arches on the right and the tunnel ahead is the entrance to the canal, so important to private comings and goings. The water gate is closed at this time for repairs.

The Contessa apartment is very close to Campo Santa Maria Formosa, a lovely large piazza between the Rialto Bridge and St. Marks in the prestigious Castello district.
