As the sun sets behind the fabled Isle of Capri, a
ferry approaches Amalfi. A dolphin breaks the
surface of the Mediterranean sea. It is time to raise a glass
of local Lacrima Cristi (tears of Christ) wine and toast another glorious day in Sorrento.

The Sole Villa is on the second and third floors
above the garages. The Mare Villa is just above the
garages.

Villa Sole consists of two pieces. The main villa is
on the right. On the left is the "dependence"
another small villa with two bedrooms and baths as well
as its own terrace, but no pool. In low season the
dependence can be rented separately, but in the mid and
high season they are rented together.
Villas Sole and Mare share a private stairway to the
sea that is found in the arched area at the lowest
level.
Villa Sole has four parking spaces, two inside
garages and two outside.

Here is the entrance of Villa Sole. the three
windows to the right of the main door are in the living
room. Below are the steps from the garage level up to
the Villa.

Bougainville with its purple flowers entwines the
ornamental railings at the entry and is found around the
villa.

The road that winds down from the cliff is lined
with villas. How lucky are Villa Sola guests who can
stay at the level closest to the sea.

Touring from the outside in, starting with the
terrace where you will be spending so much time. A
rattan table and chairs gather outside the living room.

Looking across the pool towards the back of the
property, you can see the private staircase up to the
road above.
The landscaping delights with a variety of foliage
and flowers. During your stay the terrace will be swept
of fallen leaves.

The views from Villa Sole are the natural, calming
antidote to high blood pressure.

At the back of the property is a covered terrace
outside the kitchen area. It has its own charming
cloister colonnade.

Outdoor dining is an important part of your
enjoyment. Linger over your meals and enjoy the view of
the grounds and pool.

The Madonna floats on clouds over a seaside village
while an ox kneels outside a grotto
I know, I already showed this shot, but it was so
nice to frame the ferry and Capri in a window.

As you can see, we photographed in the late
afternoon and by the time we reached the seaside, the
light was gone. But, from just above you see the
seawalls protecting the private bathing area for Villa
Sole and the other 8 or 9 villas nearby.
When you get to the bottom of the sea stairs you
find a private shower, bathroom and changing room and a
clean covered area where you can hang out near the water
but out of the sun. Along the base of the cliff is a
concrete platform for sunbathing and steps into the
water. A housekeeper puts out lounge chairs for guests.

Finally, inside, and the entry area that can also
serve as a dining area for a small group. Straight ahead
is the kitchen that was being renovated when we
visited.
Stairs rise to the second floor that has two
bedrooms and a small terrace

The living room with clouds of white fabric and
rattan overlooks the sea.

Fine antiques such as these etageres on either side
of the windows are found throughout Villa Sole. Enjoy an
extensive collection of exotic sea shells.

In the master bedroom traditional, antique bedsteads
are used together to hold a queen-sized mattress. An
antique armoire joins in to take you back in time. This
quiet room reminded me of dreams I have of exploring
my grandparents rambling summer home when I was a
child.

The master bedroom has its own sitting area in the
tower and a private sea view balcony. I imagine waking
up with the sunrise and walking across the cool tile
floors to the terrace to enjoy the dawning sea in a
billowing white linen night gown.
A rollaway bed can be placed in this area to
accommodate an extra person, bringing the bed count of
this part of the villa to six.

Italian artistic expression extends to tiles and
this villa delights with various colors and designs.

On the second level is the second bedroom, a single
with a private patio outside its French doors.

The small bathroom for the single bedroom with its
pretty tiling.

Below the master bedroom is the third bedroom with a
rattan sofa in the curve. The vine covered arches echo
Maxfield Parish dreamscapes

Twin mattresses can be made up as one extra wide
Queen or twins.

The second part of Villa Sole is a full apartment of
its own. It has a large, comfy living room, dining area
and separate kitchen. The kitchen and bedrooms were
being renovated when we visited.

Buttery ochre in the floor tiles sets off the cloud
white upholstery. The sofa opens to sleep two.

Meticulous landscaping extends to this charming
collection of potted cacti.

Bring the children. There is a small, covered
terrace with a tiny playhouse and little merry go round.
There is a gate on this area to keep little ones safe.
