Exquisite taste and beautiful art come together in
the noble Colomba apartment. The formal living room
features two sofas and two arm chairs as well as a card
table. Two large window bathe the room in light.

With the icon of Rome, the Coliseum, at the end of
your street, you know you are living your Roman dream.
In between your rooftop terrace, the ages of Rome are
arrayed with a medieval tower and the dome of a
baroque church among terracotta tile rooftops and
rooftop gardens.
|

|
Your terrace is a garden itself with space to soak
up the sun, dine and just relax in the sun or shaded
gazebo.
No building in the city rises above seven stories, the
height of your terrace, so your view of the Eternal City
is unobstructed.
|
|
Enjoy your terrace aerie in full sun or in the shade
of the vine-entwined gazebo.
|
|
If you must come in from the sun, elegant comfort
invites you to enjoy a truly unique apartment. The
living room is filled with fine art for your
enjoyment.
The studio/den can be seen through the arched
doorways.
|
|
Peach and tan walls are reflected in the gelato
colored sofas and arm chairs. The stairs rise to the
rooftop terrace. Note that this is a staircase making it
easy to bring up your meal for dining al fresco.
|

|
Another perspective of the studio/den out the large
French doors that admit wonderful light.
|

|
Delightful grouping of paintings in the living room.
|

|
The dining room is spacious and, like all the rooms,
features one of the most charming
discoveries in this apartment, the painted walls. The owner
is an artist who specializes in murals, trompe l'oeil and painted
highlights. You can see the
room colors carefully picked out in the outlining on the
door panels.
|

|
The spacious kitchen with pretty contrasting colors.
Notice the trompe l'oeil open door and drawer on the
hutch. The paintings and little teasers such as this
delight your explorations of the Colomba apartment.
|

|
The master bedroom with a king sized bed features an
original mural and trompe l'oeil painting. The
Madonna and Child painting is, however, an oil
masterpiece from centuries past.
|
|
The master bedroom has its own balcony overlooking
Via dei Serpenti. It has a small television and a
built-in air conditioner.
|

|
Romantic master bathroom has both a shower and tub.
|

|
More trompe l'oeil lends charm in an already lovely
room.
|
|
|
|
The twin bedroom beds are placed end-to-end forming
a comfortable, long sofa. This room, too, has a balcony
overlooking Via dei Serpenti.
|
|
The third bedroom is a symphony in greens. It has a
single bed. The closet doors are hand-painted.

A majestic fountain is the centerpiece of the Monti
neighborhood in Piazza Santa Maria dei Monti, steps from
Colomba. The neighborhood water fountain, the nasone, is on the
left side of the photo. Not many years ago this was
where everyone fetched their water. The nasones run
constantly ensuring a flow through the Roman sewers. The
whole system, from the aqueduct-fed spouts to the
sewers, was invented by the Romans. A nice joke is to
ask your companion to help you turn off the running
water at the nasone.
|
|
The Monti district is bordered by the Coliseum (see
it at the end of the street in this photo), the
Roman Forum, Santa Maria Maggiore, St. Peter in Chains and the important
thoroughfare of Via Nazionale. Many sights are within
walking distance but if you wish to spare your feet, the
little, electric 117 bus does a great job of carrying you to other
famous locations as does the subway line from the station on
Via Cavour.
|
|
The neighborhood flower vendor brightens her nearby street
corner.
|
|
The closest market is this Minimarket, a five minute
walk, with a
companion fruit and vegetable seller. You can't get a
better window on the pace of life of the neighborhood
than by taking a prolonged coffee at the cafe/bar next
door.
|
|
The interesting and colorful offerings of the local housewares
and hardware store spill onto the street.
|
|
Every weekday morning you can find fresh food of
every kind in the local Mercato Rionale, the
neighborhood open market, that is less than a five
minute walk away. Vendors come in from the
countryside with the freshest of foods.
|
|
Newsvendor's kiosk flanked by several of the many
restaurants that are found in this very Roman
neighborhood. There is a lively night life fed by the
restaurants and people come here from all over the
city.
The neighborhood council keeps a tight rein on
disruptive elements that have made Trastevere somewhat less desirable of late.

Tempted?

The neighborhood streets are adorned with green
plants and vines and a pretty,
shiny red motorcycle!

Peek into hidden courtyards.
|
|
Monti is traditionally a neighborhood of crafts.
Traditional crafts such as woodworking persists. A new
generation of craftspeople display art of all kinds in
small shops throughout the neighborhood that is
experiencing gentrification on a large scale. The
population is an urban mix.
