Location

The Castello vacation apartment in Rome is located in the elegant and popular Prati neighborhood. It just behind Castel Sant'Angelo, the Pope's refuge in more turbulent times, and steps from Saint Peter's Basilica. Cross the Tiber river across the bridge of Angels in front of the castle and you'll find yourself near the popular Piazza Navona, a ten minute walk. 

Walk out your front door three blocks to reach one of the most popular shopping areas for Romans, the Via Cola di Rienzo which features fine clothing and gourmet food shops, good restaurants, cafes and prices that are a bit lower than the more touristy areas of the historic center. There are two very well-known Roman gourmet food shops nearby where you can browse the selection of prepared foods for take-away or pick-up special sweets. Also convenient is the large Standa supermarket about a 5-minute walk away, which is one the most popular features of this area since it has an excellent selection of standard grocery items, housewares and deli foods. 

Building 

Located in a handsome, well-maintained building from the 1800s, the lower floors have offices and a doorman during business hours add security.

Interior Description

The inviting Castello apartment is a great base for your stay in Rome. It is large, bright and comfortable. The renovation to this apartment was done in 2007 so everything is fresh with warm, typically Roman colors throughout.

The living room has a sofa that converts to a queen sized bed together with two armchairs. A shelving unit holds a television with Satellite reception that brings in a few English language channels. 

A good-sized eat-in kitchen has a large refrigerator/freezer, microwave, drip coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, four burner stove top, oven, and dishwasher.

Right off the kitchen, convenient for serving, is a feature that is so grand to have in Rome, a full terrace with a table for four with umbrella. The terrace overlooks the neighborhood, Roman rooftops and allows you to dine under Roman skies.

Outside the kitchen is a pantry with table items. Next to the pantry is a bath with shower.

The largest bedroom sleeps three with a queen sized bed and a single. A small closet has been added recently, replacing the traditional armoire. Across the hall is the large, handsome master bathroom with shower. 

A balcony overlooks the neighborhood and connects with the second bedroom. The second bedroom also has a queen sized bed and a small closet.

Each bedroom has a television.

• Clean and well-equipped

• Quiet, safe and clean neighborhood

• Neither the kitchen table nor the living room sit the full capacity of the apartment, 7 people. Works well for four people, larger groups have to be flexible!

• Living room needs more lamps.
