Exquisite Apartment by the
Spanish Steps with Terrace
Sleeps 3 with 1
bedroom and 1 sleeping loft, 1 bath
Elegance, taste, amenities and views abound
in this five star apartment that is a two minute
walk to the Spanish Steps.
We have to use superlatives when it comes to the lovely Angelina
apartment. The roof top terrace and balcony allow
you to enjoy the wonderful weather of Rome and
timeless views of the Eternal City. Everything has been considered for
lifetime memories of Rome.
Location
The Spanish Steps location is so
popular because it is very central. The graceful
steps and the piazza are beautiful albeit usually
bustling with visitors. From this location many of
the important sites of Rome are within a 15 minute
walking radius. Fine shops and restaurants abound
in this district. Transportation is also easy from
this home base. This street is closed to all but
essential traffic; add the top floor location and street noise is not an issue.
Building
The handsome marble-lined lobby
leads right to a modern elevator that takes you to
the top floor. There are no steps to get to the
elevator or to the apartment. There is, however, a
spiral staircase leading to the rooftop terrace.
Interior Description
Across the large living and
dining area of the apartment are three French
doors that open onto a full balcony with views of
rooftops and the church across the street and you
can look down into the street, too.
If you need to keep connected,
you will find a landline telephone as well as the
complimentary use of a PC with high speed internet
connection.
The living room is big enough
for entertaining. It offers a sofa, a love seat
and three arm chairs. The colors are quiet and
rich. An oriental carpet echoes the reds in a
large antique tapestry framed on the wall. Antique
end tables, desk and chairs are upstaged by an
impressive art deco cabinet. There are many fine
pieces of art to appreciate. A corner cabinet
hides a television set that has Satellite
reception for English-language news. It also has a
DVD player and a small selection of first-run
movies (in Italian, but just put on English
sub-titles).
The dining table seats four and
is just outside the small but complete kitchen. In
the kitchen modern cabinetry holds everything you
need for cooking and serving. There is a large
refrigerator/freezer, drip and Italian coffee
makers, microwave, dishwasher, gas stove top and
oven.
The balcony has a table and a
series of terra cotta planters all along the
outside of the rail. You can enjoy a
view of the facade of S. Andrea delle Frate church
across the street, the little piazza below with a
newsstand and the parade of people traveling to
and from Piazza di Spagna.
From the entryway, a narrow,
spiral stair case rises sixteen steps to the private
rooftop terrace. The terrace has a rush mat cover
to reduce the heat of the sun and terra cotta pots
with green and flowering plants depending on the
season. It is open on three sides, the fourth
being painted with a unobtrusive fresco of the
Roman skyline. Why focus on the fresco, when the
real thing is just beyond? You can see St Peter's
dome, the Pantheon, the presidential palace, and
the top of the spires on nearby Trinita di Monti
church at the top of the Spanish Steps and more. A
cafe table and four chairs are enough for all
guests. Also, there is a stone sink and a small
refrigerator. Keep your cocktail items where you
need them!
The bedroom is well-sized,
holding a queen sized bed, night stands, a
television set and two closets. The en-suite
bathroom is very nicely done offering a shower,
toilet, bidet and a sink in marble. Next to the bathroom
is a small room with more wonderful views. It
houses the washing machine hidden inside a
cabinet. It also contains a comfortable chair for
a quiet place to read.
The sleeping loft is accessed by
a pretty staircase that rises from the living
room. There is just room for a French twin bed and
cabinet on top of which is another television set.
There is room to stand up and walk from one end of
the bed to the other (i.e. the loft is larger than
the bed itself).
We have inspected in this apartment. Our
opinion:
-
The
apartment is beautiful and bright, no
reservations in recommending.
-
Everything has
been considered; it has all the
amenities and is very comfortable.
-
The
living room furniture is small in size.
-
The location
is terrific.
-
The
rooftop terrace is glorious, but even without,
the balcony brings you the best of Roman
skies, views, and weather.
-
Street noise is
not a problem.

We thought the accommodation was very
special. The element that made it so wonderful
for us was the roof top nest where we could
sip our wine, taste our cheese, listen to
opera on our ipod and gaze at the at the
softly glimmering Roman skyline.
Enjoyed the most: Tasting the food delights
of Rome in the privacy of our own apartment.
We were a bit shell shocked when we first
arrived into Rome from the Almalfi coast to
find that we were contributing to a total
tourist invasion (mid Sept). When we walked
out of our apartment it was like entering the
ground floor of a Department store on the
first day of the Sales. However we eventually
got used to it and even found some very
friendly locals in the nearby supermarket who
were genuinely helpful and not at all
intolerant of tourists.
If we were to go back we would have a bit
of a dilemma because we both loved the
apartment but think it was probably a bit of a
mistake to position ourselves slap bang
between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi
fountain during the high tourist season.
However I think we might be tempted to book
the same apartment but at a time which was
less touristy.
We enjoyed a walk to Trastevere where we
found a total non-tourist eatery called
Saverio which we could highly recommend.
Service was very good. Elvie was very sweet
and helpful.
Despite my rabbitting on about “tourists”
(which includes us) we had a great time and
Angelina, bless her, was a big part of why we
had a such an enjoyable visit to Roma. Brett

My husband and I stayed in the Angelina
apartment in Rome the last week of June, 2007.
The greeting was very hospitable. For a group
of three, Angelina was perfect. My mother
loved the charming loft, especially because
the air conditioning worked so well. In fact,
the A/C in the apartment was a luxury during a
week Rome experienced record high
temperatures. We enjoyed relaxing in the
apartment during the warmest part of each day;
we made ourselves get up and out early to
enjoy as much of the city as we could, and
thoroughly enjoyed our quiet time in the
apartment in the afternoons. The living room
was spacious and offered enough room for the
three of us to spread out a bit. The compact
kitchen was workable. All in all, it was a
very clean apartment and we really enjoyed our
stay. But wait!!! I almost forgot the best
part! The roof-top terrace! We ate at least
one meal a day up there, usually two. The
location of the apartment was perfect, within
walking distance of almost everything. Well,
for hard-core walkers. A few times, our tired
feet demanded we take a taxi back. We had a
wonderful vacation and much appreciated the
efficient service and useful Rome tourism tips
and restaurant recommendations from

I wanted to drop you a note to say how much
we enjoyed the Angelina apartment in
Rome...especially the location. The weather in
Rome for that week was hot but we had a
marvelous, enjoyable time in that wonderful
city. We met the greeter the morning of our
arrival and she was extremely helpful and
pleasant. We also appreciated the bottled
water and wine in the refrigerator and fresh
fruit on the table...what a nice touch. The
weather being so very hot, it was doubly
appreciated. The location was wonderful. Also,
we got to meet [actor] Owen Wilson several
times during the week as he was staying
somewhere in the next building..one or two
doors down from our entrance. We seemed to be
on the same schedule coming and going on many
days. Always fun to see celebrities! Kate

Neat flat, great location and warm welcome
by Elvira. The only thing I can think to gripe
about are the pigeons on the roof terrace,
which I guess tells you that we have nothing
to complain about! Thanks. Arne S, Norway,
May 2007
The apartment was wonderful. We loved it.
It was comfortably furnished, the bed was
comfortable, the kitchen was more than
adequately eqipped, the computer (high speed
internet) was a great convenience, and the
owners even provided a few welcoming groceries
and a bottle of wine ( a lovely touch).
We enjoyed having coffee and cereal at home
in the morning and being able to eat dinner at
home a couple of nights. We also enjoyed
relaxing in the pleasant living room with the
guidebook and planning the next day, with the
computer nearby to make reservations.
The location is wonderfully convenient for
shopping, siteseeing and dining. For joggers,
the location is perfect--we jogged in the
Borghese gardens every morning. The Trevi
Fountain and Spanish Steps are just a
"stone's throw" away. The church
across the street is definitely worth a visit.
There is a new shop in the same block as the
apartment (I don't recall the name) that sells
interesting jewelry made of Murano glass.
Your website was the best that I found when
I was looking for an apartment in Rome
(although I didn't find it through a web
search; rather through Mariann). The site
provides excellent detail and a fair
assessment of the apartment. There were no
surprises. The car service you recommended
worked well. Your follow-up e-mail in the
middle of our stay was also welcome.
I have been singing your praises to
everyone and have recommended your website to
several interested people. We will definitely
be in touch for our next trip to Italy. Jane
